Combat Psychiatry : Lessons from the War in Southwest Asia
نویسنده
چکیده
The war in Southwest AsUz (SWA) was the Army's first opportunity since Vietnam to provide mental health services to a large deployed combat force. Despite the low number of combat stress casualties, information from corps and division levels suggests deficiencies in the Army's ability to provide wartime mental health support. Based on observations, interviews and written data, and from direct experience as a mental health officer, before, during and after ground combat in SWA, the author presents a number of mental health lessons learned.
